€100m rated Bundesliga star backed to ‘do well’ under Klopp at Liverpool

Florian Wirtz has been backed to ‘do well’ under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool as the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder continues to be linked with Europe’s biggest clubs.

Wirtz has enjoyed a brilliant season with Leverkusen to attract transfer interest from across Europe, with the 18-year-old having scored eight goals and provided 12 assists across all competitions for Leverkusen.

The midfielder has racked up 14 goal involvements in just 15 league starts in the Bundesliga and has been valued in the region of €100m as Europe’s elite circle.

Wirtz made his senior debut for Germany last March and has since won four caps, with recent reports from SportBild having suggested the teenager is a transfer target for Liverpool.

Wirtz has been backed to become a success at Liverpool should he make a Premier League move, with former Germany international Karl-Heinz Körbel believing Anfield could be the perfect environment for the midfielder’s development.

“A player like Wirtz needs an environment in which he feels comfortable in order to develop,” Körbel told SportBild.

“If he leaves in 2023 or 2024, he can choose the club: Barcelona, Madrid, Bayern, Liverpool. I think he would do well with Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. As the successor to Sadio Mané.”
