PSG open talks with Spurs wantaway record signing Ndombele

Paris Saint-Germain have opened talks with Tottenham over a deal to sign Tanguy Ndombele on loan.

Ndombele has failed to make an impression under a succession of managers since arriving in a £55m club-record deal from Lyon two-and-a-half seasons ago and is understood to want to leave Spurs in search of a fresh start.

The 25-year-old has started just six league fixtures this season and Antonio Conte is prepared to sanction his exit this month, with Goal reporting that PSG have started negotiations with the North Londoners over a potential loan deal.

PSG have identified the France international as a leading target this month and the club’s sporting director, Leonardo, is hopeful of securing a deal to bring Ndombele back to Ligue 1.

The midfielder’s signing was viewed as a coup from Spurs given reported interest from elsewhere across Europe, but he has proven a major disappointment with only glimpses of his talent since his arrival in 2019.

He has failed to convince four different managers at Spurs – including now PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino who initially signed him – and his future now appears away from the Premier League as the Ligue 1 leaders look to finalise a loan deal this month.

Ndombele has not featured in Spurs’ past two squads, having been jeered by sections of the home support following his substitution in the FA Cup win over Morecambe on January 9.
