Pep Guardiola has downplayed reports that his Manchester City players were drunk during a night out at the weekend.
Images have been released of Jack Grealish, Kyle Walker and Riyad Mahrez in the city centre on Sunday, with some reports having claimed the trio were turned away from a bar for being ‘too drunk’.
Guardiola has since refuted those suggestions, however, with his players having returned to training on Tuesday ahead of the club’s clash with Brentford tomorrow evening.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash, the Man City boss joked that the trio would be fined after failing to issue him an invite for their night out together.
“I am so upset – they didn’t invite me! Next time they invite me,” the Catalan said.
“The video didn’t show what happened. They had dinner together and they were sober.
“They were all perfect but they will be fined because they didn’t invite me!”
City will be looking to maintain their advantage at the top of the Premier League against the Bees, with the champions currently nine points clear of Liverpool in the title race.
Guardiola’s side head into the fixture having sealed their progress to the FA Cup’s fifth round at the weekend, having beaten Championship leaders Fulham 4-1 at the Etihad.
