Chelsea are ‘readying another bid’ to sign Jules Kounde from Sevilla as the club look to strengthen their centre-back options this summer.
Chelsea came close to securing the signing of Kounde from the Spanish side last summer, though saw Sevilla stand firm on their asking price for the defender after failing to find a suitable replacement.
The La Liga outfit turned down an offer of around €50m (£42.5m) for the 23-year-old, who has forged a reputation as one of Europe’s most promising defenders in recent seasons.
Thomas Tuchel retains an interest in bringing the France international to west London and Marca are reporting that Chelsea are set to renew their interest in Kounde, with the Blues preparing a summer bid.
Chelsea are in need of defensive reinforcements with uncertainty surrounding several of their current options, with Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta all out of contract at the end of the season.
Rudiger has been linked with a move to Real Madrid as he nears the end of his deal, whilst there is also interest from Spain in Azpilicueta.
Christensen has attracted interest from Bayern Munich, who view the Denmark international as a potential replacement for the Borussia Dortmund-bound Niklas Sule.
