Manchester City make bid for Brazilian starlet Savio

Manchester City have made a bid to sign Atlético Mineiro teenager Savio, with the Premier League champions hopeful of winning the race for the winger.

City have made a bid of €6.5m (£5.5m) add-ons for the 17-year-old, who has also attracted interest from Arsenal, RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg since breaking into senior set-up at the Brazilian side.

Writing in the Guardian, Fabrizio Romano reports that City could look to loan the winger to PSV Eindhoven next season, should a deal be struck with Atlético Mineiro for the winger.

Pep Guardiola’s side are understood to be leading the race for Savio despite interest from elsewhere in Europe, with the youngster having impressed since being handed his senior debut for the side in September 2020.

The teenager has not cemented himself as an automatic starter with Atlético Mineiro, but has found himself on the fringes of a squad that has enjoyed much success of late, winning the 2021 Brazilian league title, the Copa do Brasil, and the Campeonato Mineiro.

The club also reached the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores before losing on away goals to eventual champions Palmeiras.
