Jurgen Klopp has discussed Mohamed Salah’s latest milestone at Liverpool and has provided an update on Diogo Jota’s fitness ahead of the club’s clash with Norwich.
Salah scored his 24th goal of the season as Liverpool won 2-0 at Inter Milan in midweek, securing a crucial win at the San Siro in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie.
The goal means Salah has now scored in his last eight Champions League away games, whilst he now needs just one goal to reach 150 in all competitions since signing for Liverpool.
Klopp has hailed the Egyptian’s continued consistency around goal and is hopeful Salah can reach the landmark when the Reds host Norwich tomorrow.
“I’ve only been here for seven years and the club is much older with so many great players in their history,” said Klopp at his pre-match press conference.
“This team, is one of the better ones, which is clear and Mo is part of that. The numbers speak for themselves.
“When you say 150, it feels like only recently we spoke about 100. It’s a massive number and hopefully he can do that tomorrow.”
Klopp confirmed that Diogo Jota will not feature against the Canaries, having been substituted at half-time of the win at Inter with an ankle issues.
The German admitted he is unsure on how long the Portuguese forward will be absent, revealing Jota has sustained a problem to his ankle ligaments.
“No he will not be available but it is still not clear. We need further assessments. It is something with some ligaments around the ankle. We have to wait.
“Everybody saw the picture of him in the boot and that is a normal procedure. For sure, he won’t be available for the weekend.”
