Antonio Conte has discussed his controversial interview with Italian media and insists he’s ‘enjoying’ his time at Tottenham.
Conte opened up on his tenure during an interview with Sky Sports Italia this week, in which the Spurs boss outlined his belief that his squad had been ‘weakened’ by the club’s January transfer window business.
The 52-year-old also declared that his side had just a ‘1% chance’ of securing a top four finish, following a run of three consecutive Premier League defeats.
Speaking ahead of Spurs’ trip to face Manchester City this weekend, Conte has clarified his comments and reiterated that he is enjoying his time in north London.
“During the interview after the transfer market they asked me about the club and if I’m happy,” Conte told his pre-match press conferences.
“I said the club did the best it can do. We lost four players, important players for Tottenham. These players we sent away on loan cost a lot of money. Numerically you could be a bit weaker.
“Then I said with Kulusevski and Bentancur we are more complete. I don’t understand why someone wants to create a problem between me and also in the past. A lot of stories between the chairman and the club. He knows my thoughts. It’s not important for me to go to the media. I can speak to him.
“I always say that I’m enjoying my time at Tottenham and with the players. I’m always saying this.”
