Harry Kane will assess Tottenham’s progress under Antonio Conte before making a decision on his future with the club.
Kane expressed a desire to leave the north London side last summer amid interest from Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola confirmed that the Premier League champions saw several offers rejected for the England captain.
The 28-year-old had a slow start to the season following the speculation around his future, but produced an outstanding performance as Spurs won 3-2 at City on Saturday evening, a result which reignited the club’s pursuit of a top four finish and Champions League qualification.
Spurs are keen to tie the forward down to a new contract, having seen Kane turn down the offer of an extension last summer. He will have two years remaining on his current deal at the end of the season and The Athletic are reporting that Kane wants to assess Spurs’ progress before committing his future to the club.
Kane has failed to win silverware in his career so far and his personal ambition prompted a desire to leave last summer, though he could be convinced to stay with Spurs should he feel trophies are achievable under Conte.
Spurs’ last silverware came with success in the 2008 League Cup and the north Londoners are currently eighth in the Premier League at present.
It is unclear whether City will renew their interest in Kane at the end of the season, whilst both Manchester United and Chelsea were tentatively linked with his signing last summer.
Should the forward push for an exit and Spurs resist advances for Kane again this summer, it is understood that he will consider seeing out the remainder of his contract and departing as a free agent in 2024.
