Jurgen Klopp has tried to temper excitement as Liverpool continue their pursuit of an unprecedented quadruple.
The Reds secured the first piece of silverware in the English calendar last weekend, beating Chelsea on penalties to claim the Carabao Cup.
They have followed that up with a 2-1 win over Norwich to book their place in the FA Cup quarter finals, while they hold a 2-0 lead going into their Champions League last-16 second leg clash with Inter Milan next week.
Attentions turn back to Premier League action this weekend when Liverpool host Champions League-chasing West Ham at Anfield on Saturday evening, the Reds six points behind league leaders Manchester City with a game in hand.
Success on the remaining three fronts would constitute a historic quadruple for Jurgen Klopp’s side, though the German was keen to maintain focus on one game at a time, saying that there are ‘many challenges ahead’ for his side.
“I enjoy the situation we are in, but I don’t enjoy the questions about it because it is like we have won the games already,” he said at his pre-match press conference.
“I really want to win tomorrow, but if we lose, you will come here and say the title race is over.
“I don’t have enough capacity for all these scenarios. I cannot think about what we can win. I’m barely smart enough for enough concentration and focus for one game.
“We are not in the worst moment but there are so many challenges ahead of us.
“I am not in a chasing mood, I just hope we’re ready for West Ham in a better way than we did when we played them there [at London Stadium].”
Klopp did however say that he enjoyed the experience of taking his side to another Cup final last week, and that he wants to experience it ‘more often’.
“The size of a final, especially at Wembley with a sensational atmosphere,” he said. “Smelling that, experiencing that is really cool. I want to have that more often, it’s true.
“I’ve said it now a couple of times, when the final whistle, or the final shot, it didn’t feel any different to the Champions League final.
“That’s cool and we want that more often.”
