Arsenal further strengthened their position in the race for the top four after they beat Watford 3-2 today at Vicarage Road.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side came into the game on a solid run of form and after a bright start the Gunners would take the lead after just four minutes. Norweigan playmaker Martin Odegaard played a classy interchange with fellow attacker Bukayo Saka before the former Real Madrid man slid the ball smartly into the bottom corner.
Just seven minutes later and Watford would draw level with the strike another goal straight out of the top drawer, Cucho Hernandez pulling off a spectacular over head kick to fire home a Kiko Femenia cross from six yards out.
On 30 minutes Arsenal would regain control through impressive youngster Saka, the England international exchanging passes with Gunners skipper Alexandre Lazazette before whipping a clinical finish home from the edge of the area.
Arsenal continued to move the ball with real confidence as the second-half began and not long after the restart they would bag yet another brilliantly worked team goal. This time Lacazette laid the ball off to Gabriel Martinelli, with the Brazilian curling a lethal strike into the top corner.

It seemed like Arsenal would comfortably see the game out, only for Moussa Sissoko to take advantage of some slack defending from Ben White and slide under the body of Aaron Ramsdale to set up an exciting finish.
However, despite Watford’s best efforts, Roy Hodgson’s men were unable to create any clear cut chances and Arsenal secured a crucial win.
Today’s win sees Arsenal move ahead of Man United into fourth place despite having played two games less and speaking afterwards Gunners coach Arteta was delighted with his sides attacking display although he felt his team could have been better defensively.
“It is very pleasing; we know how difficult it is to be in this position in this league. We’ve earned it; we have comes a long way as a team,” Arteta told Sky Sports.
“We had great attacking moments but I wasn’t pleased with our organisation. We didn’t dominate and play the way we wanted.
”Credit to Watford, but a lot of it was down to us; we should have done better and there is a lot to improve.”
