Klopp provides an update on Mo Salah’s contract situation

Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on Mohamed Salah’s contract situation at Liverpool and says there is ‘no rush’ to agree a new deal.

Salah has less than 18 months remaining on his current contract and has spoken publicly on his desire to remain at Anfield, insisting he was not asking for ‘crazy stuff’ during an interview with GQ earlier this year.

“I want to stay, but it’s not in my hands. It’s in their hands,” Salah said during the interview. “They know what I want. I’m not asking for crazy stuff.”

Despite agreeing terms with a number of key players in recent months, Liverpool have so far failed to reach an agreement with the 29-year-old over a new contract.

Salah has been in outstanding form this season and has scored 27 goals in all competitions for the Reds, though Klopp insists he remains relaxed about Salah’s situation.

“Mo expects this club to be ambitious,” Klopp told his pre-match press conference ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Brighton this weekend.

“We cannot do much more. It is Mo’s decision. It is all fine from my point of view.

“Nothing happened further, no signing or rejection. We just have to wait, there’s no rush.”
