Liverpool and Real Madrid interested in Gnabry amid Bayern contract stand-off

Liverpool and Real Madrid are said to be among the clubs considering moves for Serge Gnabry as the winger prepares to enter the final season of his deal at Bayern Munich.

Gnabry will have just a year remaining on his contract this summer and has so far failed to agree terms on a new deal with the Bundesliga champions, a situation being monitored by leading clubs across Europe.

The 26-year-old has starred since signing for Bayern from Werder Bremen in 2017, scoring 61 goals in 163 appearances and winning three Bundesliga titles and the Champions League.

GOAL are reporting that Gnabry is ‘contemplating’ an exit from the German side amid interest from Real Madrid, Juventus and Liverpool, with negotiations with Bayern ‘not yet close to reaching any kind of renewal agreement’.

The forward – who has scored 20 goals in 31 appearances for Germany at international level – wants to take time over his future, with both sporting ambitions and finances set to contribute to his decision.

Liverpool are believed to be interested in Gnabry given the uncertainty surrounding several of their senior names, with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino all out of contract in 2023 and decisions still to be made on the futures of club’s long-term front three.

Salah has been locked in negotiations over a new deal at Anfield, but the two parties have so far been unable to reach an agreement over an extension.

Real are understood to have made initial contact with Gnabry’s representatives and the forward could follow former teammate David Alaba to the Spanish capital, with the defender having made a free transfer move from Bayern to the Bernabeu last summer.

Gnabry – who was infamously deemed not good enough to play for West Brom by Tony Pulis in 2015 – previously spent three seasons with Arsenal but made just 18 senior appearances before returning to the Bundesliga in a £5m deal.
