Rangnick remains coy on Ten Hag speculation but reveals ‘top coaches’ have been interviewed for Man United manager job

Ralf Rangnick has remained coy on speculation that Erik ten Hag is set to be appointed as Manchester United’s next permanent manager, but confirmed ‘top coaches’ have been interviewed for the role.

Ten Hag is expected to be named as the Red Devils’ next manager after discussions with the club’s board over the vacant position, with Rangnick currently in interim charge until the end of the season.

The Dutchman is understood to have impressed during the interview process and became a frontrunner for the position following his work with Ajax, having the Dutch side to two league titles and the Champions League semi-finals during his time in Amsterdam.

Speaking ahead of United’s trip to Everton tomorrow, Rangnick refused to confirm that Ten Hag’s appointment was imminent but revealed each of the candidates interviewed are ‘top managers’.

“I think this is the press conference for tomorrow’s game and I don’t intend to speak about any possible new managers here,” said Rangnick at his pre-match press conference.

“From what I know, all the managers with whom the club have so far spoken are top managers, top coaches.

“If this includes Erik ten Hag, then it’s also true with him. That’s all I can say at this stage.”
