Erik Ten Hag is said to be seeking ‘a range of assurances’ before accepting the role as Manchester United’s next permanent manager.
Ten Hag has emerged as the club’s preferred candidate after impressing during a formal interview with the Red Devils, with the negotiations continuing with the Dutchman ahead of a potential move from Ajax to Old Trafford.
The Athletic are reporting that Ten Hag will not accept a proposal from the Premier League side until he is provided with clarity over his position.
The 52-year-old is understood to be seeking ‘a range of assurances’ over his role, responsibilities and authority before accepting an offer to leave Ajax.

An announcement on Ten Hag is not expected until after Ajax’s KNVB Cup final against PSV on April 17, with United keen to respect the Dutch side and avoid potential distractions.
Once a decision has been made – both from United and Ten Hag – then rival candidates will be informed, with Mauricio Pochettino, Luis Enrique and Julen Lopetegui the other names to have been shortlisted by the Red Devils’ board.
Ten Hag will have just one year remaining on his contract at Ajax this summer and his current deal possesses a release clause, though an agreement could be reached between the sides outside of those terms.
