Arsenal are ‘very interested’ in signing Wolves’ Ruben Neves as the club look to bolster their midfield options this summer.
Mikel Arteta is targeting midfield additions as he continues his rebuild of the North Londoners and Neves has emerged as a leading target, with the Portugal international attracting interest from several leading sides.
Sky Sports are reporting that Wolves value the 25-year-old in the region of £50m to £60m ahead of expected transfer interest. Arsenal will face competition to secure his services from Barcelona, despite uncertainty over the financial strength of the Spanish side.
Manchester United and Tottenham have also been linked with Neves, though the former must first finalise a managerial appointment before conducting transfer business with Ajax boss Erik ten Hag the front runner for the role.
Arsenal are understood to be preparing for another active summer in the transfer window after last season’s wealth of new additions, with the signing of at least one new centre-forward and an attacking right-back also on the club’s agenda.
Midfield has been a priority for Arteta since the January transfer window, having failed to agree a deal to sign Juventus’ Arthur Melo on loan.
Arsenal allowed Ainsley Maitland-Niles to leave on loan during the winter transfer window, whilst both Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira are set to depart on permanent deals this summer after spending the 2021/22 on temporary deals away from the Emirates.
