Manchester City have agreed terms with Erling Haaland ahead of a summer move for the Borussia Dortmund forward.
City have agreed a deal that will make Haaland the highest-paid player in the Premier League with the club having made a ‘significant step’ forward in their pursuit of the Norwegian.
The Mail are reporting that Haaland’s representatives have accepted a contract offer worth £500,000-a-week with City preparing to trigger the £63m release clause in the 21-year-old’s contract at Dortmund.
City appear set to win the race to sign Haaland, who has scored 82 goals in 85 appearances since signing for Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020.
Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Bayern Munich had all expressed an interest in signing the star this summer, though City appear set to win the race for Haaland given the club’s lucrative offer and strong sporting project under Pep Guardiola.
Haaland will sign a five-year deal at the Etihad should the final steps of the agreement be finalised, with the player’s father, Alf-Inge, having been heavily involved in negotiations.
Haaland senior spent three seasons with City during his own playing career, making 47 appearances in all competitions.
