Ralf Rangnick says Manchester United could sign up to 10 new players this summer as part of the club’s ‘rebuild’.
United are set for major changes this summer after a disappointing Premier League campaign, with the Red Devils’ 4-0 defeat at Liverpool described as ’embarrassing’ by Rangnick and emphasising the gulf in class between the side and the division’s best teams.
Erik ten Hag is expected to be announced as the club’s next permanent manager ahead of next season and the Dutchman looks set to be without Champions League football in his bid to attract players to Old Trafford.
United are sixth at present and three points behind Tottenham in fourth, having played a game more than the North Londoners.
Rangnick – who will move from his position as interim manager into a consultatory position next season – insists there is a major rebuild set to take place at the club and one that may include up to 10 new players arriving.
“There will be a rebuild here,” Rangnick told reporters in his post-match press conference. “Six, seven, maybe 10 new players will come.
“(Liverpool) have better players than we have and this was really reflected by the result today.
“There will be a rebuild for sure, that was obvious in the first three or four weeks for me. For us it is extremely embarrassing as a coaching staff to sit here and have a press conference like this. We just have to admit they are better than us.”
