Man Utd ‘prioritising’ two midfielders this summer, while Nunez, Antony and Danjuma are all being watched

Manchester United are ‘prioritising’ the signing fo two midfielders this summer, whilst the club are also considering moves for a number of forward options.

Erik ten Hag will be the man tasked with the club’s rebuild after agreeing a deal to take charge of the side this summer and the Dutchman’s focus in the transfer window will be on strengthening his midfield.

United will target two new midfielders and have scouted a whole host of names ahead of Ten Hag’s arrival as manager, including Leeds’ Kalvin Phillips and Ruben Neves, of Wolves.

Phillips has shone since Leeds’ return to the Premier League and was named as England’s Player of the Year in 2021, but his close ties to the Elland Road outfit are deemed as a stumbling block to a potential deal.

Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma, Aston Villa’s John McGinn and Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni are also under consideration.

The Telegraph are reporting that several forwards are also being tracked ahead of potential moves, with both central options and wide forwards on the club’s agenda.

Darwin Nunez – who has been linked with several sides across Europe after scoring 33 goals for Benfica this season – is a potential target, alongside Ajax winger Antony and Villarreal’s Arnaut Danjuma.

Danjuma tormented the Man Utd backline when they hosted Villarreal in their Champions League group stage game back in September, with the Spanish side having progressed to the last four of the competition having dispensed of Bayern Munich in the quarter finals.

Ten Hag has held discussions with the club over transfer targets and the Red Devils will now step up their pursuits of new additions, with a squad overhaul expected following a disappointing campaign at Old Trafford.
