Barcelona are willing to ‘study’ offers for Frenkie de Jong this summer as several sides consider an approach for the midfielder.
Manchester United have been linked with a move for the Dutchman after the appointment of Erik ten Hag as the club’s next permanent manager, with De Jong having shone under Ten Hag’s management at Ajax before a big-money move to Spain.
The 24-year-old has struggled for consistency during his time at Barcelona and Sport are reporting that the Catalans will consider significant offers this summer, with Ten Hag keen to make his compatriot the ‘cornerstone’ of his new look side.
Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are understood to be prepared to rival United’s interest, however, with Bayern head coach, Julian Nagelsmann, said to be a huge admirer.
PSG had been interested in signing De Jong before his move to Barcelona, but the then-Ajax star instead choose a switch to Spain.
Barcelona, at present, are not actively interested in a sale and both sporting adviser, Jordi Cruyff, and manager Xavi have publicly dismissed the idea of a potential exit for De Jong.
However, bids in the region of €80m will be considered for a midfielder who has failed to showcase his best on a regular basis at Catalonia.
