Jurgen Klopp has called on Liverpool to ‘respond’ as the Reds travel to face Aston Villa in the Premier League on Tuesday.
Liverpool take on Villa in the Midlands tomorrow evening looking to bounce back from dropped points at the weekend, with a 1-1 draw with Tottenham having left the club three points behind Manchester City in the title race.
City’s convincing 5-0 win over Newcastle has also bolstered the league leader’s goal difference in their favour and Klopp admits the ‘only chance’ his side have is to win each of their remaining games.
The German has called on his team to ‘respond’ to Saturday’s setback against Spurs and insists the Reds’ focus is on tomorrow’s trip to Villa and not the club’s FA Cup final date with Chelsea on May 14.
“Whatever happens tomorrow night. If we win it will be helpful and then we have four days to an FA Cup final. In an ideal world you win all the games and are always in a great mood. A lot of times you have to respond.
“In our situation, the only chance to win things is to win all our football games That is a tough task with this schedule but we will still give it a try. We will take it one by one and not start thinking about the cup final.”
Klopp suggested that Roberto Firmino could be fit to feature at Villa with the forward ‘closer and closer’ after returning to first-team training.
