Gabriel Jesus ‘top of the list’ for Arsenal with striker ‘expected to leave’ Man City

Gabriel Jesus is ‘top of the list’ for Arsenal this summer with the forward ‘expected to leave’ Manchester City.

Arsenal are interested in a deal to sign the Brazil international and have made Jesus their leading target, with the impending arrival of Erling Haaland at Manchester City set to further reduce his chances of regular first-team football.

The 25-year-old will have 12 months remaining on his contract this summer and looks set to leave in search of a more prominent role. Arsenal have contacted the player over a potential deal, though Fabrizio Romano is reporting that there has been no direct contact between the two clubs at present.

Jesus has started 19 league games for the Premier League champions this season, scoring eight goals and providing eight assists, and could join international teammates Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Magalhaes at the Emirates next season.

The Gunners are seeking the addition of at least two new forwards this summer with both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah out of contract at the end of the campaign.

Arsenal are also interested in a deal to sign midfielder Youri Tielemans from Leicester, another player who will enter the final season of his contract at the end of the campaign.

The Belgium international has turned down a new deal with the Foxes and has attracted interest from several Premier League rivals, with qualification for the Champions League potentially ‘key’ in securing a deal for the 25-year-old.

Arsenal can confirm their place in the Champions League for the first time since 2016/17 with a win at Tottenham in the North London derby on Thursday evening.
