Tottenham are preparing for a busy summer of recruitment with the club looking to make six signings in a bid to keep Antonio Conte at the club.
Conte refused to guarantee his long-term future at the North London side despite leading Spurs to a top four finish and Champions League qualification, with the Italian having repeatedly spoken on his desire for the side to compete for major trophies.
The Telegraph are reporting that Spurs are now set to back Conte in a bid to keep him at the club, with Director of Football Fabio Paratici set to hold talks with the manager in Italy over summer recruitment plans.
Conte is seeking for the Spurs squad to be significantly strengthened and wants six to eight new players. Spurs are ready to accept his demands and will target the signings of two new wing-backs, a left-sided centre-back, a midfielder and a forward who can also play out wide.
The North Londoner are also in pursuit of a back-up goalkeeper and are closing in on the signing of Fraser Forster with the 34-year-old set to undergo medical before signing on a free transfer from Southampton.
Spurs hope their summer business will persuade Conte that the club can match his own personal ambitions and there are a number of Premier League names on their transfer wish-list.
Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse and Leeds’ Kalvin Phillips have both been linked with filling a midfield role, whilst Spurs are also set to rival Arsenal’s interest in signing Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.
Jesus’ teammate, Raheem Sterling, would also be a target should he decide to leave the Premier League champions.
