Jules Kounde is reportedly ‘desperate’ to join Chelsea this summer with the Blues interested in a deal for the Sevilla centre-back.
Kounde was a transfer target for Chelsea last summer but saw a move fail to materialise, though the West Londoners are set to return with renewed interest as Thomas Tuchel looks to rebuild his defence.
The free transfer exits of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen have made the signing of defensive additions a priority for Chelsea and the Sun are reporting that Kounde is keen to fill the void.
The 23-year-old has emerged as one of La Liga’s most promising defenders at Sevilla, who will demand the France international’s release clause of £68m is met.
Thomas Tuchel is set to be handed significant funds this summer as Chelsea’s takeover edges closer to completion, with the UK government and Premier League having approved the £4.25bn bid from an American-based consortium fronted by LA Dodgers co-owner Todd Boehly.
Boehly is understood to have promised around £200m worth of investment in the squad as Chelsea look to build a side capable of challenging Manchester City and Liverpool next season.
