Arsenal signing Marquinhos has been compared to Douglas Costa with the teenager having made a ‘huge impression’ at Sao Paulo last season.
Mikel Arteta has continued his rebuild of the Gunners with the signing of Marquinhos, with the 19-year-old having signed a long-term contract at the Emirates after a promising breakthrough in Brazil.
The winger will join an exciting collection of young talent in north London and South American football expert, Tim Vickery, has said the versatile forward is one for the future.
Discussing the youngster’s attributes and style, Vickery said Marquinhos reminds him of former Bayern Munich and Juventus star Costa.
“They bought him for the future, they’ve given themselves a margin for error there,” Vickery told Sky Sports.
“He made a huge impression at Sao Paulo last season. He reminds me of Douglas Costa, versatile, mobile and can operate across the front line.
“The last few months have been frustrating for him through injury. He doesn’t have a lot behind him. If you look at what Edu has done, the older players haven’t worked with Willian and David Luiz, but Gabriel has been a revelation and Gabriel Martinelli is another good piece of business.”
