Chelsea have reached an agreement with Inter Milan over a loan move for Romelu Lukaku.
Lukaku is set to return to Inter Milan on a season-long loan deal after a disappointing debut campaign at Chelsea, with the forward having scored just eight league goals following his £97.5m club record arrival last summer.
Inter will pay a loan fee of €8m (£6.9m) plus a potential further €4m in add ons for the Belgium international, who will re-join the Italians should he pass a medical next week.
The deal will not include an obligation or option to buy, with Sky Sports having revealed that Inter are not in a financial position to sign Lukaku on a permanent basis.
Fabrizio Romano has also reported that Lukaku’s wages will be decreased from €12m to €8m during the course of the loan agreement.

Lukaku will return to Inter have been among the most disappointing signings of the Premier League era, having struggled for form and favour under Thomas Tuchel last season.
Chelsea had hoped that Lukaku – who scored 64 goals in 95 games across his previous spell with Inter Milan – could turn the west Londoners into title contenders, but his impact has been minimal despite the club’s record outlay.
He will hope to discover his finest form upon his return to Serie A, where he was named as the division’s Most Valuable Player after firing Inter to a drought-breaking title success in 2020/21.
