Bernardo Silva reportedly ‘wants to play for Barcelona’ next season and is said to have informed Manchester City of his desire to leave the club.
Barcelona are interested in signing the midfielder this summer, though are aware a deal will be difficult to agree with the Premier League champions.
The 27-year-old was in excellent form for Pep Guardiola’s side last season, earning an inclusion in the PFA Team of the Year after helping City to the Premier League title.
SPORT are reporting that the Portugal international is now keen for a new challenge after five seasons in Manchester however, and has informed his agent, Jorge Mendes, and Guardiola of his desire to move to Barcelona.
City are understood to value Silva in the region of €100m, with the midfielder’s contract running until 2025. That figure looks prohibitive for Barcelona given their current financial situation, despite the Catalans acquiring funds through the sale of future TV and merchandising rights.
Further funds are expected to be raised through the sale of Frenkie de Jong to Manchester United however, with the Spanish side targeting summer deals for Robert Lewandowski and Silva as Xavi continues his rebuild at the Camp Nou.
