Ronaldo receives €300m offer from Saudi Arabia

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly received a €300m offer from an unnamed club in Saudi Arabia.

Ronaldo is keen to leave Manchester United this summer and is yet to return to the club for pre-season, having been granted extended leave due to ‘family reasons’.

United have insisted that Ronaldo is not for sale, with Erik ten Hag having stated that the 37-year-old – who has been linked with the likes of Chelsea and Bayern Munich – remains a part of his plans for the new season.

Ronaldo’s motivation for wanting to leave the club is a desire to compete for major trophies and in the Champions League, having been frustrated with United’s lack of progress in the transfer market this summer and a sixth-placed finish last season.

However, according to TVI and CNN Portuguesa, as per AS, Ronaldo has now received a huge offer to make the move to Saudi Arabia, with an unnamed club prepared to offer a package worth €300m.

The offer includes a £25m fee paid to United, alongside a record-breaking contract that would see the five-time Ballon d’Or winner earn a staggering €250million (£211m) over two seasons – equating to more than five times his current wage at around £2m per week. The total package would reach €300m when agent fees are taking into account.

United are reluctant to allow Ronaldo – who finished as the club’s leading scorer with 24 goals last season – to leave, but that stance could soften should a significant bid be submitted.

However, it remains unclear whether Ronaldo would leave European football despite the lucrative nature of the deal, given his desire to play Champions League football.
