Arsenal are confident of finalising a deal for Oleksandr Zinchenko this week as talks continue with Manchester City.
The north Londoners are in negotiations with the Premier League champions over a deal worth in the region of £30m, with personal terms not expected to be a problem once a fee has been agreed.
Mikel Arteta is keen to reunite with the Ukraine international, having coached Zinchenko during his time working on the coaching staff at the Etihad.
The Gunners are in the market for a left-sided defender and Sky Sports are reporting there is a ‘growing confidence’ from Arsenal that a deal will be agreed.
The 25-year-old has featured predominantly at left-back for City, but operates in a midfield role at international level and his versatility is viewed as a valuable asset to Arteta’s squad.
Arsenal had targeted a deal for Lisandro Martinez of Ajax, though Manchester United have since agreed a £57m deal to sign the defender.
Zinchenko could become Arsenal’s second signing of the summer from Manchester City, having completed the signing of Gabriel Jesus for a fee of £45m earlier in the window.
