Chelsea have seen an offer worth £60m for Leicester defender Wesley Fofana rejected.
Thomas Tuchel’s side have dominated the transfer headlines in recent days and are continuing their pursuit of defensive additions with an offer for Fofana.
The 21-year-old has emerged as a leading target for Chelsea who are in search of reinforcements at centre-back and, according to L’Équipe, the Blues have tested Leicester’s resolve with an opening offer of £60m.
Brendan Rodgers’ side have insisted that Fofana is not for sale this summer and value the Frenchman in excess of the £80m world-record fee that took Harry Maguire from Leicester to Manchester United in 2019.
Leicester, however, have failed to make a signing so far this summer and could be tempted by an offer that will provide Rodgers with funds to reinvest and rebuild.

Fofana made just seven league appearances for Leicester last season, having suffered a broken leg during a pre-season friendly with Villarreal last summer.
The defender had signed from Saint-Etienne for a fee worth up to £36.5 million in 2020 and was named as the club’s Young Player of the Season during his debut campaign.
Chelsea’s move for Fofana comes after a frustrating summer in the transfer market so far, with the Blues having suffered setbacks in pursuits of Matthijs de Ligt, Jules Kounde and Nathan Ake.
