Anthony Martial is a doubt for Manchester United’s season opener against Brighton after sustaining a hamstring injury.
Erik ten Hag will begin his reign as Manchester United manager with a home clash against the Seagulls, though the Dutchman could be short of attacking options after Martial suffered a hamstring problem in the club’s friendly defeat to Atletico Madrid last weekend.
According to Sky Sports, the France international remains a doubt for this weekend’s fixture at Old Trafford, while Cristiano Ronaldo is short of match fitness after missing the Red Devils’ pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia.
Ronaldo featured for 45 minutes against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, but has expressed a desire to leave this summer and exited Old Trafford before the full-time whistle, following his substitution.

Martial has impressed since returning to the club from a disappointing loan spell at Sevilla, with the 26-year-old having scored three goals across the Red Devils’ pre-season campaign.
His hamstring problem has been described as a minor issue and Martial could return to face Brentford on August 13. United then host Liverpool in their third fixture of the season on August 22.
Marcus Rashford looks the most likely to deputise in a centre-forward role against Brighton, should Ten Hag opt against including Ronaldo.
