Jurgen Klopp has backed Fabio Carvalho to play a big role for Liverpool this season following the midfielder’s impressive pre-season.
Liverpool secured the £5m signing of Carvalho from Fulham earlier this summer after the teenager starred as the Cottagers won the Championship last season.
The 19-year-old scored ten goals and provided eight assists as Fulham won promotion to the Premier League, before making an immediate impact with a promising pre-season campaign at Anfield.
Carvalho could make his Premier League debut for Liverpool when the Reds take on his former side at Craven Cottage on Saturday lunchtime, and Klopp has backed the summer signing to play a big role in the club’s season.
“Fabio Carvalho is a massive talent, really great kid, really happy to have him,” Klopp told his pre-match press conference.
”He’s very important for us because we count on this age group now, not waiting until they are 22, 23 and then we us them. He is ready like Harvey [Elliott] is ready. He will be a really important player for us.”
