Man United set to make fanciful move for Ronaldo heir Joao Felix

Manchester United have sent officials to Spain as the club look to agree an ambitious deal to sign Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid.

United are set to begin negotiations with Atletico over a potential deal to sign Felix as the club look to bolster their forward line.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s desire to leave the club, Edinson Cavani’s exit and Mason Greenwood’s indefinite unavailability have left the Red Devils short of options at centre-forward and reports in Spain, as per the Express, claim Felix is now a top target.

United have planned meetings with Felix’s representatives in a bid to persuade the forward to move to the Premier League, having been frustrated in an attempt to sign teammate Matheus Cunha.

A move for Felix would be significantly more challenging to complete, given Atletico invested a club-record £113m to sign the 22-year-old from Benfica in 2019.

The Portugal international has struggled to live up to expectations since the switch to Spain, but remains one of the most promising forwards in European football. He has scored 30 goals in 111 appearances for Atletico in all competitions.

Atletico continue to be linked with a move to sign Ronaldo, opening up the prospect of an exchange deal. However, the Spanish side would face opposition from supporters should Ronaldo arrive, with sections of the fanbase having protested against a deal for the record goalscorer of rivals Real Madrid.
