Isak has regularly been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent windows and will add to Newcastle’s attacking options as the Magpies look to challenge for a place in Europe.
The 22-year-old impressed for Sweden at the European Championship last summer and has scored nine goals in 37 appearances for the national side.
Isak finished as the competition’s leading scorer as Sociedad won the Copa del Rey in 2019/20 and has scored 44 goals in 132 appearances across his four seasons with the Spanish outfit.
The deal is understood to be worth an initial £58m and Isak is set to become Newcastle’s fourth major signing of the summer, following deals for Matt Targett, Nick Pope and Sven Botman.
