Guardiola discusses City’s brilliant 3pm on Saturday record ahead of facing bogey team Palace

Pep Guardiola has discussed Manchester City’s brilliant record in Saturday 3pm games, ahead of facing bogey team Crystal Palace.

The weekend’s fixtures sees City take on Palace at the Etihad, with the Eagles boasting a curious recent record against the top-flight champions. City have lost just two of their last 54 Premier League games that have kicked off at 15:00 on a Saturday – both to Palace.

Patrick Vieira’s side won 2-0 at City last season and Guardiola is expecting another tough challenge against a team who have been awkward opponents in recent campaigns.

The Eagles secured their first win of the Premier League season last time out and held Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at Anfield earlier this month.

“It’s a good record, to lose two out of 54 games. That shows how good they (Palace) are,” Guardiola told his pre-match press conference.

“With Hodgson and now Patrick Vieira. They have resilience and an incredible amount of quality.

“They defend the 18-yard box really well, good set pieces, good transitions. They have weapons, experienced players in the middle.”
