Callum Hudson-Odoi is set to leave Chelsea in search of regular first-team football with Bayer Leverkusen having agreed a loan deal for the winger.
Hudson-Odoi had expressed a desire to leave in search of more opportunities, having failed to make a Premier League appearance so far this season. The 21-year-old has struggled to find a role in Thomas Tuchel’s plans and was restricted to just 11 league starts in 2021/22.
Sky Sports are reporting that Hudson-Odoi will fly to Germany on Monday to undergo a medical with Leverkusen, who have beaten off competition from England and Europe to secure his signing.
The deal will be a straight loan with no option to make the move permanent, with Chelsea keen to monitor how the winger develops during a season in the Bundesliga.
Hudson-Odoi came through the academy system at Chelsea and has since made 126 appearances in all competitions, but has failed to build on an initial exciting emergence that saw him win three senior caps for England in 2019.
Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund have previously expressed interest in Hudson-Odoi, with the latter having come close to securing a loan deal last summer.
Leverkusen have began the season in disappointing fashion with one win from four in the Bundesliga, but will compete in the Champions League this season and have been drawn to face Club Brugge, Atletico Madrid and Porto in the group stage.
