Mikel Arteta has reacted to winning the Premier League’s Manager of the Month award and believes ‘it’s a sign’ that Arsenal are performing well.
Arteta has been named as the division’s Manager of the Month for August, after leading the Gunners to five consecutive wins to start the season.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s trip to face Brentford in the Premier League, the Spaniard reacted to his accolade and thanked the contribution of all involved at Arsenal.
“It’s great. It’s a sign the team is performing well, we are winning and is a consequence of that,” Arteta said at his pre-match press conference.
“Thank you to everyone involved at the club. Thank you to the players who are the ones making the differences. And to the supporters.”
The north Londoners suffered a setback with defeat at Manchester United last time out, but remain top of the Premier League after six games.
Arsenal have since seen clashes with Everton and PSV postponed following the death of Queen Elizabeth II and is confident his team can retain their momentum despite a break in the season.
“We are always available to play but there are authorities to make the right decisions. We have adapted our schedule to be as competitive as possible.”
