Guardiola hails ‘perfect person’ Haaland and agrees with Klopp over All-Star game proposal

Pep Guardiola has hailed Manchester City forward Erling Haaland as a ‘perfect person’ and has agreed with Jurgen Klopp’s stance over a potential Premier League All-Star game.

Haaland has made a stunning impact since signing from Borussia Dortmund during the summer, scoring 13 goals in just nine appearances across all competitions.

The Norway international scored the winner as City beat his former side 2-1 in the Champions League in midweek and leads the race for the Premier League’s Golden Boot.

The 22-year-old’s prolific form had added a new dynamic to the Premier League champions this season and Guardiola has been delighted with how Haaland has settled at the Etihad.

“He is exceptional. I think he has ambition, he wants to play better,” Guardiola told his pre-match press conference ahead of City’s trip to face Wolves this weekend.

“He is a perfect person. he is a nice guy. He had the quality before coming here, I didn’t add many things.”

Guardiola also gave his view on a potential North vs South All-Star game in the Premier League. Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has suggested the American concept in a bid to raise funds for the rest of the English football pyramid, but it has been greeted with mixed reviews.

Jurgen Klopp was among those to dismiss an All-Star game and Guardiola was in agreement with the Liverpool manager, who said there was no room in a congested calendar for the occasion.

“I don’t have an opinion. I agree with Jurgen, give me the dates to play.”
