Graham Potter says Chelsea managers are only ever 90 minutes away from a crisis as he looks to bounce back from his first defeat since taking charge.
Potter’s unbeaten record as Chelsea manager was ended following a humbling 4-1 defeat at former side Brighton last weekend, with the west Londoners well beaten at the Amex Stadium.
Chelsea conclude their Champions League group stage campaign against Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday evening, already assured of their place in the last 16 as group winners.
Potter has called on his team to respond against the Croatian side at Stamford Bridge and discussed the importance of ignoring the outside noise that follows a defeat.
“We want to finish the competition off well at this stage and we want to respond from a disappointment at the weekend,” Potter said at his pre-match press conference.
“It’s never nice to lose and the manner that we did was not pleasant so I think we got caught up with the atmosphere.
“In my job, or where I’m sat, you’ve got to be careful what you listen to, essentially, because people can talk and say whatever. It’s part of life.
“You understand when you’re at a club like this you are only 90 minutes away from a crisis and you have to put things into perspective, you have to understand where you’ve been and what has happened, and look at it as intelligently as you can.
“Whatever people say from the outside, there is always opinions, always people that don’t like you, always people that have a different opinion of how the situation is, and you can’t really control that. All I can do is focus on how I think and what I think and how I act and let the noise carry on.”
