Man Utd looking to sack Ronaldo following his explosive interview

Manchester United are assessing whether the club can sack Cristiano Ronaldo following his controversial interview with Piers Morgan.

Ronaldo’s time at the club appears to be over following his interview with Morgan, in which the Portugal captain claims he feels ‘betrayed’ by the club and has no respect for manager Erik ten Hag.

The full interview will be released later this week, in the latest distraction Ronaldo has created during Ten Hag’s first season in charge. The Portugal captain expressed a desire to leave the club during the summer, but remained at Old Trafford with credible suitors in short supply.

He has since featured sporadically under Ten Hag and has scored just three goals in 16 appearances across all competitions.

The Mail are reporting that the Red Devils are now assessing whether the club can sack Ronaldo for a breach of contract. Lawyers are currently studying Ronaldo’s comments to see if it is viable to terminate his deal.

United are considering ripping up Ronaldo’s deal and allowing the forward to leave on a free transfer, but are reluctant to do so if it involves a pay-off or subsidising his wages at another club.

It is understood that lawyers for United are studying Ronaldo’s claims that he feels betrayed by the club and has no respect for manager Erik ten Hag, to see if this constitutes a breach of his contract.

Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is understood to have began talks with other clubs and has reportedly held discussions with Bayern Munich over a potential move. It is unlikely that Ronaldo will feature for United again, following his return from the World Cup.
