Callum Hudson-Odoi is understood to have been left disappointed over Chelsea’s transfer stance after the club blocked a deadline day loan exit.
Hudson-Odoi is keen to secure regular first-team football after being an unused substitute during Chelsea’s first three games of the Premier League season, though saw the Blues turn down an approach from Borussia Dortmund to take the winger on loan.
Thomas Tuchel is keen to keep the 20-year-old amongst his options ahead of a long season that will involve Club World Cup participation, a stance that has left the frustrated winger disappointed.
Hudson-Odoi has featured for just 178 minutes across Chelsea’s past 17 competitive fixtures, a scenario which has left the youngster’s career in risk of stagnation as he struggles to build on an impressive emergence.
The Athletic are reporting that the star feels let down over Chelsea’s unwillingness to sanction a loan switch to Dortmund, where he would have been afforded regular minutes in his preferred position on the left-wing.
His minutes under Tuchel have often come in an unfamiliar wing-back position and his role has seen Hudson-Odoi drop away from the senior England squad, having won three senior caps under Gareth Southgate in 2019.
Hudson-Odoi has no intention of leaving Chelsea on a permanent basis, but felt his career would benefit from regular football at Dortmund before returning an improved player, having seen the likes of Mason Mount and Reece James benefit from loan experiences before first-team breakthroughs.
Leicester are also understood to have made an approach over a permanent deal in the closing stages of the window.
