Arsenal have completed the signing of Leandro Trossard from Brighton in a deal worth £27m.
The Belgium international has signed a long-term contract with the Premier League leaders and adds to Mikel Arteta’s options in the final third.
“This has been my best season in the Premier League,” Trossard told the club’s official website.
“We did a great job at Brighton and my form there has been really good. After the World Cup, I didn’t play much because of the situation but I’m just so excited to start here with Arsenal and show myself on the biggest stage for a top club.
“[The club] has so much history and I want to be part of that history going on. That’s why I joined this project. I’m really excited to be here. I want to show myself to all the fans and on the biggest stage.”
Trossard had been keen to leave Brighton after a fall-out with manager Roberto De Zerbi and departs the Seagulls having 25 goals in 116 league appearances for the club.
Arsenal targeted the 28-year-old after the club missed out on the signing of Mykhaylo Mudryk to Chelsea, with Trossard set to provide depth to the Gunners’ forward line as the north Londoners chase a first Premier League title since 2003/04.
Mikel Arteta has expressed his delight at completing the deal, praising Trossard’s ‘high technical ability’ and welcoming the addition of a Premier League proven talent.
