Wolves keen to tie Adama Traore down to bumper new deal amid Spurs and Liverpool interest

Wolverhampton Wanderers are keen to tie Adama Traore down to a bumper new deal, amid reported interest from both Tottenham and Liverpool.

The powerful and pacy Spaniard is currently attracting the attention of the Premier League’s top sides due to his explosive form in recent seasons, having developed into a real effective presence at Molineux since joining from Middlesbrough in 2018.

While there remain doubts about his end product, illustrated by his tally of just seven goals in 107 top-flight appearances for the club, his unique playing style is no doubt a real weapon and has seen him also earn international recognition of late, playing a minor role for Luis Enrique’s side at Euro 2020.

The early weeks of the season have seen some glaring misses by the former Barcelona man, yet against Manchester United, in particular, the 25-year-old put in a blistering display and caused havoc for the Red Devils defence and midfield all afternoon.

Such showings have seemingly reaffirmed Wolves’ desire to keep their star asset at the club, with The Sun reporting that the Midlands side are keen to tie him down to a bumper new deal, amid interest from both Spurs and Liverpool.

The report suggests that he could become the highest paid player in Bruno Lage’s squad with a new extended contract believed to be around £120,000-a-week, which is said to be more than double his current earnings.

Offering that four-year deal – worth £25m in total – is seemingly an attempt to ward off any interest, with Spurs having had two bids rejected for the player over the summer as Nuno Espirito Santo looked to be reunited with Traore in north London.

Santo and co are said to have offered in the region of £30m for his services, although Wolves value the winger at around £50m and are seemingly in no mood to part ways any time soon.

There are of course fears that he could well run down his existing contract in order to lower that valuation or eventually leave on a free, with his current deal set to expire in the summer of 2023.
