Spurs finally reach agreement over Pedro Porro transfer

Tottenham have reached an agreement with Sporting Lisbon over the signing of right-back Pedro Porro.

Porro will undergo a medical with the north Londoners on Tuesday ahead of a deadline day move to the Premier League, following lengthy negotiations between the two clubs over the structure of the deal.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Spurs have now reached an agreement with the Portuguese side over a transfer that will cost the club €45m (£39m).

Antonio Conte made Porro his top target as Spurs looked to strengthen at right-back and his arrival will clear the path for Djed Spence to join Rennes on loan, following a disappointing debut season in north London.

Sky Sports have revealed that Spurs have agreed a deal that will contain structured payments towards the €45m fee, which was the release clause in Porro’s contract.

Spurs have also given up 15% of the sell-on fee for Marcus Edwards, who moved from Tottenham to Portugal in 2019. Edwards signed for Vitoria de Guimaraes before moving to Sporting in January 2022 and the sell-on clause transferred to his contract in Lisbon.

Porro returns to English football after a previous spell at Manchester City, where he failed to make a senior appearance before his move to Sporting. The 23-year-old has shone at Sporting and has been included in the Primeira Liga Team of the Year in consecutive campaigns.

He has made 26 appearances in all competitions for Sporting this season, in which he has scored three goals and provided 11 assists from wing-back.
