Chelsea are said to be no longer in the race to sign Jude Bellingham following the club’s recent transfer business, but Newcastle have been named among the interested clubs.
Bellingham is set to be at the centre of a transfer tussle between Europe’s top clubs with the expectation that the midfielder will leave Borussia Dortmund this summer.
Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid are understood to be the front runners for the England international, while Manchester United are also monitoring his situation.
Dortmund are expected to demand a fee of around €150m for the 19-year-old and Bild are reporting that Chelsea is ‘no longer an option’ for the midfielder.
The west Londoners have spent more than £500m on new additions since last summer and completed a British record £106.8m deal for Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez on deadline day.
UEFA have placed Chelsea on their financial fair play watchlist and record deal for Bellingham now appears out of reach.
The German publication are reporting that Newcastle are ‘trying to get into’ the race for Bellingham. The Magpies boast huge resources following their Saudi-backed takeover and are ahead of expectations in terms of development this season.
Eddie Howe’s side are into the Carabao Cup final and are third in the Premier League table. Bild believe that Newcastle could make an ambitious bid to lure Bellingham to St James’ Park should the club secure Champions League qualification this season.
