Chelsea meet PSG to discuss Neymar transfer

Chelsea’s owners have reportedly met with their counterparts at PSG to discuss a potentially blockbuster move for Neymar.

Neymar has been linked with an exit from the French capital club for a number of months, though was unable to find a club willing to take him and his immense wages.

The Brazilian is under contract at the Parc des Prince until June 2027 and earns a whopping €30 million a year, though is said to be involved in a ‘feud’ with fellow forward Kylian Mbappe,

According to ESPN, Chelsea were offered the chance to sign the 31-year-old last summer, with then-manager Thomas Tuchel said to have been keen on the deal – the German having worked with the forward during his time in charge of the Ligue 1 side.

The Blues were said to be ‘tempted’, but ultimately opted against a move at the time, but a move seems to be back on the agenda, with the ESPN report saying that Todd Boehly met with PSG president Nasser al Khelaifi on Tuesday night to ‘discuss a potential transfer’.

They say that the pair ‘met in a luxury hotel near the Arc de Triomphe for lunch’, though a potential move for the Brazilian wasn’t the only topic that they spoke about.

They reportedly discussed the failed transfer of Hakim Ziyech from Chelsea to PSG at the end of the transfer window, with Chelsea reportedly sending the wrong documents that prevented the Moroccan from making the move across the English channel.

They also are said to have discussed the latest developments on the formation of a possible European Super League, with new plans having been revealed last week.
