Chelsea have reportedly held an emergency meeting with Graham Potter and his staff regarding the club’s current struggles.
Chelsea have won just two of their last 14 fixtures in all competitions, with goalscoring clearly an issue for Graham Potter’s side – the Blues scoring just six goals during that time that goes back to before the World Cup.
Their run of form leaves Chelsea 10th in the Premier League, 11 points off the top four and 11 points ahead of the relegation zone.
According to the Evening Standard, the Blues new technical director, Christopher Vivell, led an ’emergency meeting’ with Potter and his staff to discuss why the season is ‘unravelling’.
Chelsea co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have reportedly given Graham Potter their backing, and are willing to be patient with the former Brighton boss, though were not present at the meeting.
It is said that the talks ‘centered around how to take the club forward’, with Vivell, Potter and senior first-team staff putting on a ‘united front in a bid to resolve the issues at the club’, including the ‘low confidence and morale of the squad.’
There were boos following Chelsea’s 1-0 loss to Southampton at the weekend, with some fans calling for Potter’s sacking, though it is said the club have ‘no plans to sack Potter before Sunday’s trip to Tottenham’, with the 47-year-old said to be ‘at the heart’ of the co-owners’ long-term plans.
The report does say that it was ‘accepted’ that there is ‘a lot to do to turn around a run of results that has sent their season into a tailspin’.
