Manchester United starlet set to sign ‘bumper’ new deal at Old Trafford

Manchester United starlet, Alejandro Garnacho, is set to pen a ‘bumper’ new contract to keep him at Old Trafford.

Having been of Manchester United‘s FA Youth Cup winning side last season, the Madrid-born forward has broken into the first team at Old Trafford under Erik ten Hag this season.

The youngster actually got off to a dreadful start under the Dutchman, who dropped him from the club’s pre-season friendlies after breaking the new manager’s rules, turning up late for team meetings, with Bruno Fernandes since saying that Garnacho didn’t have the ‘best attitude’.

He has however turned things around to become a regular in the first team setup, providing three goals and four assists so far in his breakthrough campaign, including a superb late-winner against Fulham back in November.

A number of Europe’s giants, including Real Madrid, have unsurprisingly been keeping tabs on the 18-year-old, though according to the Times, he is now set to commit his future to the Old Trafford club by signing a new five-year deal.

It says that the teenager is set to receive a ‘significant’ pay rise on his current deal that sees him earn £7,000-a-week.

Erik ten Hag recently revealed that he had held talks with the youngster about ‘taking responsibility’ and being more clinical in front of goal.

“I had some talks with him about that and that is about taking responsibility,” Ten Hag said following the 2-2 draw with Leeds.

“He had those chances but he was in the right position, [and] the team brings him the ball. Once he is there on our level you have to score the goal then. OK, not every chance can be a goal but of two, one has to be in. That is taking responsibility.”
