Spurs consolidated their place in the top four after they beat bitter rivals Chelsea 2-0 today at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
While this London Derby was certainly feisty, anybody who has seen Spurs and Chelsea play recently will not be surprised that the first-half was seriously lacking in terms of quality attacking football.
The game would spring into life just after the break though when academy graduate Oliver Skipp scored his first goal for his boyhood club. Skipp beat Joao Felix to a 50/50 thirty yards from goal before rifling a brilliant half-volley into the roof of the net from the edge of the area.
Harry Kane sealed the win for the home side in the 82nd minute when the Spurs talisman stroked home a flicked header by Eric Dier from a corner.

“Chelsea have been a difficult opponent for us over the last few years. So it’s a really important win to keep us around fourth. Overall I thought we deserved the win,” Kane told Sky Sports.
“It was an unbelievable goal [from Oliver Skipp] and what a time to get your first. He has been working hard so it was nice to see that one fly in.
“First half both teams created a few half chances. We struggled with our pressure a bit and sorted that out second half. I think we just showed a bit more quality in the final third and whenever you break the deadlock it helps open the game up. Another clean sheet, two goals, so overall a good home performance.”
