Tierney ‘tempted’ by Newcastle move

Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney is reportedly ‘tempted’ by a move to Newcastle.

The Scotland international has fallen down the pecking order at Emirates following the summer signing of Oleksandr ZInchenko, and has only started four games in the Premier League this season.

The Telegraph reported on Monday that Newcastle were targeting the left-back as a summer target in a ‘£30 million plus’ move.

Now, the Evening Standard are reporting that Tierney would be tempted by a move to St James Park should the Magpies firm up their interest.

However, they add that Arsenal have ‘not yet decided’ whether they would sanction the sale of the 25-year-old.

Leicester were interested in a move for Tierney in January, with Brendan Rogers having worked with him during his time at Celtic, though Arsenal refused to let him go in the mid-season window.

Tierney was a regular under Arteta following his move from Celtic in 2019, though the Gunners boss has since opted to utilise Zinchenko as a more inverted full-back, rather than the traditional overlapping full-back that seems to suit Tierney’s skillset.

Tierney still has three years remaining on his deal, with the Evening Standard saying Arsenal would want ‘more than the £25m that they paid for him’.
