Spurs ‘total focus’ on renewing Kane contract

Tottenham are not considering selling Harry Kane this summer with the club’s ‘total focus’ on renewing the forward’s contract.

Kane will enter the final 12 months of his deal in north London this summer and speculation continues to link the England captain with an exit.

Spurs’ Champions League exit to AC Milan effectively confirmed another season without silverware last week and Kane has failed to win a major trophy during his career to date.

Manchester United have been linked with a move to sign the 29-year-old, who scored his 19th and 20th league goals of the campaign during Spurs’ 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Kane has become just the third player to reach 20+ goals in six different Premier League seasons and earlier this year became Spurs’ all-time leading goalscorer after breaking Jimmy Greaves’ club record.

He is understood to be a leading target for Manchester United as the Red Devils look to sign a centre-forward this summer, but The Athletic are reporting that Spurs are not ‘contemplating’ a sale.

The club’s total focus is on renewing Kane’s contract and the Spurs board are prepared to continue those efforts into next season – at risk of losing Kane on a free transfer in 2024 – if required. Initial discussions have began with Kane and his representatives, though talks are not understood to be at an advanced stage.
